OMGosh, it's your Senior year already! It's time to begin thinking about your Senior pictures. Are you satisfied with the pictures produced by the school photographer, or would you rather have an independent high school senior photographer capture this time of your life that you will forever celebrate?
Many seniors do not realize they do not have to purchase pics from their high school. Yes, your high school yearbook picture will be from the school's photographer, but the art you hang on your wall, the coffee table book your parents can look at when you're away at college, or any other cool items can be obtained from an different photographer.
One question I'm always asked is:
"How do I know which photographer is right for me?"
I tell all my clients to visit high school senior photographer's websites/blogs/FB to determine if their style is right for them.
Here is a list of specific things to look at:
- the composition of the pictures
-how the subject is posed/do all their subjects look the same
- most importantly, look at the colors in the photo.
Do they appear to be off? Is the subject really light when it comes to skin tone? Are the pictures dark/shadowed/shaded?
Your high school Senior pictures should be representative of "You", not some posed, unnatural look that everyone has hanging on their wall.
These are just a few things to keep in mind as you decide how you want to remember this time in your life through photographs.
I hope this helped you think of a few things to look at before you choose how your Senior year will be remembered.

There are so many things you can photography/document each day. I think I'll spend some time this afternoon to plan my album and create a list of ideas :)

Early this morning I met Emily for her 2012 Senior Rep photography session. I love color, and the picture on the left has an abundance. The sun was shining on Emily in the photo right, so she took it in stride and used her hand to shield her eyes. Love, love how the wind took hold of her hair allowing it to blow freely. I wanted to use my 85mm and I am participating in a 52 week photo challenge, so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity. The first week's theme was "Around the House." This is what I see everyday around my house

Yep, we have some spoiled dogs at my house :) They even have their own furniture that faces the road. These are my two girls, from the left to right, Sasha and Jazi and then the adopted beagle boy, Brody up on the back of the sofa. They are enjoying their afternoon nap after a hard day's work of guarding the house that morning.

The Homecoming dance is quickly approaching. Wouldn't you love to have photos with your friends to remember the fun you had years from now? Ashley is home for the weekend from Tallahassee where she is finishing up her degree. The photo on the blog header is the one she chose for a 11x14 stand out picture to give her mother for her birthday. I can't wait to hear about Lori's reaction when opens her present. Here's hoping the moment is captured digitally (can't say on film anymore-LOL) so they can enjoy it for years to come.
